October 12 - 14 : Chef Andrew Ticer and Chef Michael Hudman
The chefs and owners of Andrew Michael Italian kitchen were both raised by large Italian families. It was in their childhood, that the love of Italian cooking took seed. They trained from the ground up, starting in liquor stores to learn about wine, quick turn restaurants to gain experience, then to the finer restaurants and formal training. They began their training in South Carolina, at Johnson and Wales and upon graduation, began working in some of the finer restaurants in Memphis, TN. Knowing that to have the best Italian training possible, they decided to then move to Italy. There they studied the Master's Program at the Italian Culinary Institute in Calabria, Italy and Lyon, France. The chefs then returned to Memphis, ready to open their first restaurant. Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen opened on October 31, 2008. The menu changes seasonally, but the gnocchi, Maw Maw's ravioli, braised pork shank and cannolis are sure hits. They have since received huge praise and recognition from Memphis Magazine, The Memphis Flyer, and more. Their ravioli was featured on the Food Network's hit show, "Best Thing I Ever Ate."
